Planning the route
- —Follow the red-and-white trail marks and carry an offline map.
- —Start early; this is the busiest stage of the Peaks of the Balkans, and morning departures avoid some heat and trail traffic.
- —Luggage transfer can often be arranged by local accommodation. Confirm the pickup point, delivery time and price directly.
- —Seasonal cafés may operate on the climb, but food, water and charging should never depend on them being open.
Safety and conditions
- Snow can remain on the pass into early summer.
- Carry 1.5–3 litres of water and ask locally whether seasonal sources are running, particularly in late summer.
Distances, times, access, and trail conditions are indicative and can change. Verify locally before setting out; use a licensed guide for remote routes.
